Noelle Timmons is a New York City–based artist originally from Ventura, California. She received her BFA from Laguna College of Art and Design and her MFA in Painting, with an emphasis in anatomy, from the New York Academy of Art. She has completed residencies at LIA Art Programme in Leipzig, Germany, and the UCROSS Foundation, and her work has been exhibited at Flowers Gallery, Field Projects, Art New York, and Rockefeller Center, with recognition from the Huffington Post, Chaleur, and E-VOLVED Magazine.

Working primarily in oil on canvas and panel and acrylic on silk, Timmons draws from the landscapes of the West Coast where she was raised. Her practice explores landscape, memory, and perception, while considering the seductive power of imagery and its relationship to technology, pleasure, and immediate gratification. She currently lives and works from her studio in East Harlem, New York.

Artist Statement 

"Both of these scenes are defined by vibrant interplays of light and shadow in landscape, enveloping and revealing figures in different states of social and environmental connection.

In Gossip in The Grass, acidic yellow sunlight hits the grass and background foliage, while the foreground is dominated by deep violets, indigos, and cool blues. The brushwork is thick, blending the figures into the surrounding landscape of fallen branches and dense, colorful flora to create a hazy, communal atmosphere.

Conversely, the brushwork is soft and textured in Second Closure, emphasizing a dreamlike, atmospheric quality where the edges of the human form seem to vibrate and push against the natural environment." - Noelle Timmons
