“My American Dreams series is about the realities of living in America in 2025, with many women across the country at a loss with their reproductive rights having been stripped away… with hopes and dreams often destroyed. It is a painful and disheartening blow to our fundamental freedoms and a profound violation of personal autonomy, where women’s bodies are no longer their own, but are instead governed by the state.”

Multidisciplinary artist Indira Cesarine frames “American Dreams” as a profound meditation on the psychic rupture that followed the overturn of Roe v. Wade. “American Dreams” has been recognized for its urgency and emotional resonance. The work was prominently featured in “Heartburn” at Sotheby’s Institute of Art (November 2025), where ten photographs—including eight newly debuted works—were exhibited. The series was also showcased in “UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance,” The Untitled Space’s 10th Anniversary Exhibition, and profiled by GirlTalkHQ Magazine, further amplifying its message and cultural impact.

ARTIST BIO:
Indira Cesarine is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and activist whose career has been defined by a commitment to amplifying women’s voices and using art as a catalyst for social change. Spanning painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, video, and large-scale public art, her practice explores feminist themes—bodily autonomy, reproductive rights, gender equality, and the politics of identity—through both personal and collective lenses.

Her work has been exhibited internationally at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Hudson Valley MOCA, The Watermill Center, Mattatuck Museum, the French Embassy Cultural Center, Art Basel Miami, SCOPE Art Fair, the Cannes Film Festival, and SPRING/BREAK Art Show, among others. In 2014, she debuted her first public sculpture, "The Egg of Light," at Rockefeller Center as part of The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt. Since then, Cesarine has continued to expand her public art practice through multiple collaborations with SaveArtSpace, presenting large-scale works on billboards across New York and other U.S. cities.

Cesarine is the founder of The Untitled Space, a Tribeca-based feminist contemporary art gallery, and Art4Equality, a nonprofit supporting gender equality through art. Her curatorial vision has shaped landmark exhibitions including "UPRISE/ANGRY WOMEN" (2017), "ONE YEAR OF RESISTANCE" (2018), "BODY BEAUTIFUL" (2019), and "UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance" (2025). Since its opening, The Untitled Space has presented over 50 exhibitions featuring more than 500 artists, creating vital platforms where art and activism converge.

She has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Vogue Italia, Forbes, Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, Newsweek, i-D, and Dazed. She appears in Asha Dahya’s book "Today’s Wonder Women” and has contributed philanthropically to art auctions for Sotheby’s “Take Home a Nude,” ARTWALK NY, and Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation, among others.

She is also the founder and editor-in-chief of The Untitled Magazine, an independent publication spotlighting art, fashion, and culture through a feminist lens.

Balancing her work as an artist and cultural organizer, Cesarine continues to integrate creative vision with activism. Currently, she is expanding the scale of her studio practice in painting and sculpture, developing museum-scale projects that merge feminist theory, material innovation, and immersive experience.
