Andrea Touché is a multimedia artist from Monterrey, Mexico, currently based in Chicago. She holds a BA in Industrial Design from the University of Monterrey (2016) and completed her postgraduate studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston (2023).

Touché’s work explores themes of self-discovery, transformation, and the pursuit of happiness through a poetic blend of figurative and surreal elements. Her multidisciplinary practice spans oil and acrylic painting, watercolor pencil illustration, and hand-knitted wire sculpture, with each medium chosen intuitively to express emotional depth and inner reflection.

Deeply influenced by her Mexican heritage, Touché draws from memory, identity, and cultural symbolism. Her signature wire sculptures, at once fragile and resilient, interact with her paintings to extend the narrative beyond the canvas and embody the duality of human emotion. Each knot becomes a marker of growth and a symbolic thread in life’s ongoing journey.

Butterflies recur throughout her work as a motif representing metamorphosis and the continuous evolution of the soul. Through dreamlike imagery and tactile storytelling, Touché invites viewers into intimate emotional landscapes that connect the personal with the universal.

Artist Statement
"My work explores the space between dreams and reality, where uncertainty becomes an invitation to transform. Through symbolism, the female figure, and dreamlike imagery, I examine themes of resilience, identity, perception, and the courage to imagine new possibilities.

In Broken Stairs, the fragmented staircase becomes a metaphor for the uncertain path between the subconscious and reality. Each step represents resilience, hope, and the courage to continue moving forward even when the destination is unclear. Centered on the female figure, the work reflects an inner strength that allows her to move beyond limitations and redefine her own future. Rather than presenting obstacles as endings, I see them as moments through which growth and transformation can emerge. The broken staircase suggests that our paths do not need to be complete or predictable for dreams to reshape the lives we create.

In Now You See Me, I continue this exploration through a feminist lens, focusing on identity, perception, and the experience of being truly seen. The work reimagines the relationship between masculine and feminine forces while questioning inherited narratives and traditional expectations placed upon women. The sunflower and butterfly embody resilience, growth, and metamorphosis, while the magnifying glass becomes a symbol of observation and inquiry. An invitation to examine what we see, what we overlook, and the unconscious biases that shape perception.

Together, these works reflect my belief that transformation begins from within. Imagination becomes a form of agency: a way of questioning limitations, confronting inherited ideas, and envisioning identities and futures beyond what has been predetermined. By blurring the boundaries between reality and symbolism, I invite viewers to enter a space where uncertainty can become possibility and where women are not merely observed, but recognized as active authors of their own stories.
