Annika Connor is a Brooklyn-based artist, screenwriter, and SAG-AFTRA actor whose multidisciplinary practice reflects the spirit of a contemporary Renaissance woman. She is best known for her evocative watercolor and oil paintings, which merge symbolism with vivid, narrative-driven imagery.
Connor’s work engages themes of political consciousness, equality, beauty, and nature. Through allegorical compositions and metaphorical storytelling, she explores current social issues while inviting viewers into layered visual narratives that balance elegance with critique. Her paintings function as both aesthetic experiences and vehicles for dialogue, challenging societal norms through refined yet provocative imagery.
Connor received her BFA in Painting & Performance from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002. She has been awarded numerous cultural grants and fellowships, including support from The Rauschenberg Foundation, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the Tory Burch Foundation for Female Entrepreneurs, the Stephen King Haven Foundation, the Motion Picture & Television Fund, and the Episcopal Actors Guild. She was also a Round One Grant Recipient of the NY City Artist Corps Grant, awarded by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), NYFA, and Queens Theatre.
Since 2015, Connor has primarily exhibited with The Untitled Space in Tribeca, New York. Earlier in her career, she presented a solo exhibition at QF Gallery in East Hampton and exhibited with FordProjects in Midtown Manhattan. Her work has been included in numerous group and solo exhibitions in the United States and internationally and is held in private collections across North America, Europe, and Asia.
A member of SAG-AFTRA since 2007, Connor was elected to serve on the SAG-AFTRA New York Board in 2023. She currently balances her studio practice with screenwriting and is developing both a feature film screenplay and her first novel.
