Artist Statement:

"My paintings of trees and forests are meditations on mark as well as observations on nature.

Leaves swirl, branches reach and retreat, light and shadow filters through growth the way emotion moves through memory. Nature becomes a mirror—cycles of chaos, calm, beauty, and resilience rendered in paint.

I’m drawn to moments where the natural world feels alive with intention: a mimosa forest breathing, foliage in motion, stillness charged with feeling.

These works invite prolonged looking, offering spaces of color and mark that hold emotional depth beneath their beauty.

Each painting is meant to be lived with to help bringing new ideas into the home.

I paint trees and forests because they feel close to human experience.

Movement in leaves, branches, and light echoes emotion, memory, and change. These works grow from moments when nature feels quietly alive—where stillness holds feeling and motion suggests inner life." - Annika Connor
