Q’shaundra James was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and studied fine art and English at University of Nevada Las Vegas. Her work explores how the effects of microaggressions afflict African Americans—what an assault to racial identity and self-esteem looks like, but also the unknown reactions of self aware black portraits forced on display. Her work has been on display at Archie C. Grant Hall, Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery, and Public US gallery. One of her pieces remains permanently installed inside the Student Union Art Gallery, located at UNLV. Q’shaundra completed a BFA at the University of Las Vegas Nevada, along with a bachelor degree in English. During her undergrad, she studied abroad in Italy. Q'shaundra worked as an apprentice for a local Italian artist, Federico Paris.
This artwork is currently featured in "Art4Equality x Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness" group exhibition at The Untitled Space.
