She pushes the boundaries of observational painting through embroidery and craft materials, recontextualizing domestic techniques as vehicles for political discourse. Majkut exhibits nationally in commercial galleries, museums, and academic institutions, and regularly lectures on gender, art activism, and textile arts.
Her most notable series, “In Control,” features meticulously cross-stitched representations of modern reproductive health products. The series has been exhibited in over 40 solo and group exhibitions across the United States, reframing conversations around reproductive rights through the historically gendered language of needlework. Majkut was named one of four international artists starting a new chapter in feminist art by Mic Media and has been repeatedly listed as a must-see artist by Hyperallergic.
Selected exhibitions include “Get in the Game” at SFMOMA, presentations at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Pérez Art Museum Miami, SCOPE Art Fair, AIR Gallery, Spring/Break Art Show, the Bronx Museum Biennial, the Every Women Biennial, the Dorsky Museum, the Museum of Craft and Design (CA), Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Dinner Gallery, and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago. She has been featured in multiple exhibitions at The Untitled Space in New York, including “UPRISE” (2017), “HOTEL (XX)” at SPRING/BREAK Art Show (2018), “UNRAVELED: Confronting The Fabric of Fiber Art” (2021), and the gallery’s 10th anniversary exhibition, “UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance.”
In 2023, Majkut gained national attention when her artwork “Medical Abortion Pills” was censored by Lewis-Clark State College administrators in the exhibition she curated, “Unconditional Care.” Working alongside the ACLU and the National Coalition Against Censorship, she publicly addressed issues of censorship, First Amendment rights, and reproductive freedom.
Majkut is a recipient of fellowships including the Wassaic Project, Forge NYC, and the Bronx Museum AIM Program. Her residencies include Elizabeth Murray/Collarworks, MASS MoCA, Jentel, Project for Empty Space, and Social Practice Resident at Emmanuel College. She co-curated the largest fine arts fundraiser for Ukraine on Artsy, raising nearly $400,000.
Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Elle, and The Guardian. In 2018, she published her first nonfiction book, The Adventures and Discoveries of A Feminist Bride, examining the history and social impact of wedding traditions through an egalitarian lens. Her work is held in private and public collections including 21c Museum, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the library of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. Majkut earned her BA from Babson College and her MFA from SMFA at Tufts University.

Learn more about her artwork and exhibitions on our website.
