Born in Poland, she earned a Master’s degree in Visual Arts and Art Education from the Art University in Zielona Góra. Pilarczyk’s practice centers on contemporary portraiture, exploring themes of identity, intimacy, cultural hybridity, and representation through vivid color and psychologically resonant compositions.
Pilarczyk has received significant recognition for her work. She was shortlisted for the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2025 at the National Portrait Gallery and for the Guildford House Open 2025. She won the Boynes Monthly Artist Award (November 2024), marking the third time her painting was recognized in the “colour” category. She was also a finalist for the International FiKVA Award for Figurative Painters in 2023 and for the Women United Art Prize in 2022 and 2021, and was longlisted for Jackson’s Art Prize in 2024.
In March 2025, Pilarczyk exhibited in “UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance” at The Untitled Space, New York, curated by Indira Cesarine, celebrating Women’s History Month and the gallery’s 10th anniversary. She also participated in “Modern Female” with 33 Contemporary Gallery in Palm Beach and has exhibited with Mash Gallery in Los Angeles, including presentations during Frieze LA at the Pacific Design Centre.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Royal Society of Arts, Mall Galleries (Women in Art Fair), Start Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery, and The Other Art Fair at the Truman Brewery, London, where she participated in multiple editions between 2022 and 2024. She has presented a solo exhibition with Oink Gallery featuring works from her “My Paradise” series. Paintings from “My Paradise” were also shown at Superfine Art Fair in Times Square, New York, and in a solo presentation on Artsy curated by The Untitled Space. Works from her “Intimate Times” series have been exhibited at 33 Contemporary Gallery in Chicago, Mixx Atelier Gallery in Telluride, and Kunstbehandlung Gallery in Munich.
Pilarczyk’s paintings combine luminous flesh tones with vibrant abstract shapes, patterns, and foliage, blending acrylic and oil to create sensual yet contemplative portraits. Drawing from her experience growing up in post-Soviet Poland and later immersing herself in London’s multicultural landscape, she portrays mixed-race couples, LGBTQ+ relationships, women of color, and immigrant identities with tenderness and agency. Her compositions challenge the historical exclusion of marginalized bodies from the artistic canon, reclaiming space for narratives of love, resilience, and belonging. In a political climate where civil rights remain under pressure, her work operates as both affirmation and quiet resistance—demanding visibility, dignity, and representation.
