Caravan earned a BA from HKU, Academy of Arts Utrecht, in the Netherlands. After a career in advertising and graphic design, she returned to fine art, studying silk screening at MK24 in Amsterdam and oil painting at The Art Students League of New York. She has participated in artist residencies at ArtCrawl Harlem on Governors Island in New York City, The Tower Room in Amsterdam, and Buddha in the Line, a solitary residency in a bunker. This sparked the idea of a new body of work: wouldn’t it be nice if we could spray away all the nasty shit in the world? So I started creating strong imaginary products. The growing collection of over 400 pieces is executed in various mediums, like solid resin spray bottles; bold, humorous, and colorful. At first glance, the resin spray bottles are colorful and attractive. Taking a closer look, you will get the message.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThese series build upon previous social justice series. I used white, brown, and black skin tone bandages in the Healing series. I protested for bodily autonomy in cities across the US, and I made a statement in a solo show in the Netherlands, where I used thousands of silicone fetuses and hundreds of my own used birth control pill strips to question the ‘pro-life’ movement. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eRacism, fascism, misogyny, and inequality are here and growing, which has to be addressed over and over again. Because, still, today, white people have to be educated.
