Since moving to the United States, he has taught art at The University of Toledo (1997-2001), Bowling Green State University (1999-2000), and The University of Oklahoma (2001-2006), and is currently at SUNY at Buffalo (2006-present). “My paintings explore the parallels between the negative effects of colonial history and contemporary global conflicts, using sports and popular culture imagery to reveal the politics of identity, power relations, and racial reconciliation. ‘Bulgey’ (2022) represents an imaginative character with multiple personalities, cultures, and fashion within a cosmopolitan environment. The piece bridges the differences within dissimilar phenomenons and emphasizes the common experiences shared between people of the same culture.”
