Born in Poland in 1984, Bartosz Beda relocated to the UK in 2008 to study at the Manchester School of Art. Since then, Beda’s work has received innumerable accolades. After graduating in 2012 with a Master of Arts in Fine Art, Beda was selected for the Catlin Art Guide as the UK’s most promising emerging artist, shortlisted for the Title Art Prize and the Door Prize, selected for The Saatchi New Sensations, and won the esteemed Towry Award for Best of the North of England. In 2014, he was a finalist for the Williams Drawing Prize in Connecticut and placed second in the Viewpoints competition at the Aljira Center for Contemporary Art in New Jersey. Three years later, he won first place in the Interstate Group Exhibition category at the CWU Sarah Spurgeon Gallery in Ellensburg, WA. Beda was awarded a six-month scholarship from Manchester Metropolitan University to attend the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Germany, and later received a fellowship from Fondazione per Arte in Rome in 2016. In 2018, Bartosz Beda was awarded a fellowship residency at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts in Reading, PA. Before relocating to England, Beda worked in the film industry doing animation. His feature film work includes “Ichthys” by Marek Skrobecki (2005) and “Peter and the Wolf” by Suzieh Tempelton (2006), which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2008. Beda’s art has been reviewed and featured in The Independent, Studio International, Expose Art Magazine, Creative Times, Radcliffe Times, A-N Magazine, and various others. He now lives and works in the United States.
